We believe the CHB Aero Club is unique in that it has only had three Chief Flying Instructors (CFIs) since the club started operations in 1935. The ability of pilots trained by the Club’s instructors is summed up by a comment: a testing officer once said, “You guys at Waipuk teach people to fly, not just pass flight tests.”

This is no doubt due to the foundations laid by the first CFI, Jim Franklin, and this philosophy continued by Don Macdonald during his tenure and by the current CFI, Ross (Roscoe) Macdonald.

Trial Flights
